Introducing ScholarShop Ghana
ScholarShop is thrilled to announce our registration as a non-profit organization in Ghana, marking a significant step in our mission to empower high school students through education and agricultural innovation.
Ghana’s economy heavily relies on three major cash crops: cocoa, coffee, and cashew. While these industries drive export revenue, they have overshadowed local garden and animal husbandry production, leading to a heavy dependence on imports. According to the USDA, over 80% of Ghana's meat imports consist of chicken, contributing to widespread inflation in meat and vegetable products and exacerbating food insecurity.
To address these challenges, ScholarShop Ghana aims to integrate poultry farming and entrepreneurship as an afterschool program of boarding schools. By introducing small-scale animal husbandry education, students will gain valuable skills while fostering local food production. This initiative demonstrates ScholarShop’s ability to adapt its transformative curriculum to meet the unique needs of diverse communities worldwide.
Within three years of implementation, participating schools will achieve complete self-sufficiency in poultry production, equipping students with critical business and agricultural skills, while directly benefiting their local communities. This initiative underscores our mission to transform Passive Charity Recipients into Community Change Agents.
